MORE ABOUT CAA

The Church Athletic Association (CAA) is interested in providing a basketball opportunity to all youth and men seeking Christian Fellowship through athletics. The churches, parents and players are the most important even though the Commissioners guide the basketball program activities. Emphasis is placed on Sportsmanship with the following Parents and Players Codes.

THE PARENT'S CODE

Parents should remember:

Make athletic participation for your child and others a positive experience. Be enthusiastic and supportive and control your emotions.
Publicly support game officials, coaches, players and your own child.
Be kind to your child's coach. The coach is a volunteer giving of personal time and money to provide a recreational activity for your child. The coach is providing a valuable community service, often without reward other than the personal satisfaction of having served the Christian community.
The opponents are necessary friends. Without them, your child could not participate.
Applaud good plays by your team and by members of the opposing team.

Most children tend to emulate the attitudes and actions of their parents. With this in mind, parents should consider the following:

IF your child lives with criticism, he learns to be critical.

IF your child lives with anger, he learns to be angry.

IF your child lives with fear, he learns to be afraid.

However:

IF your child lives with encouragement, he becomes confident.

IF your child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.

IF your child lives with honesty, he learns to trust.

IF your child lives with love, he learns to care.

As a parent, you should set a positive example for your young athlete. You play an important part in determining how successful your child's experience in CAA will be.

COACHES AND PLAYER'S CODE

Play the game for the game's sake.
Be generous when you win.
Be gracious when you lose.
Be fair always no matter what the cost.
Obey the rules of the game.
Work for the good of the team.
Accept the decisions of the game officials with good grace.
Believe in the honesty of your opponents.
Conduct yourself with honor and dignity.

Honestly and wholeheartedly applaud the efforts of your teammates and your opponents.

Between the winner's exuberance and the loser's disappointment, a person called a game official is found. All of them follow the same creed and try to call the game to the best of his/her ability. Never be publicly critical of game officials, coaches or other players.

CAA is always looking for additional church/team participants. If you know of a church that would like to join CAA, please contact one of the Commissioners so that the program can expand.
